Rory Tyer Band Announces New Album, Southeast Tour

Chicago, IL | September 2015

After a busy summer of shows in and around Chicago, including a Lake County Fair appearance and headlining Navy Pier's Landshark Beer Garden, Rory Tyer Band has announced that they are writing and recording a new album, Love in the Time of Social, and performing new music in select cities in the southeast in November 2015.

"These songs are our strongest yet," says singer-songwriter Rory Tyer. "The six of us [including newest member Dave DeRose on keys] have grown together through performing so often this summer, and I'm very excited about that synergy. I'm also excited that my sister, Richmond-based singer-songwriter Natalie Tyer, will be recording with us and performing with us in November." Natalie Tyer first sang with them on "Doesn't Really Matter," the lead single from their 2014 album I Still Find Hope.

"Thematically, this album deals with the unique challenges and possibilities of love and relationships in the age of digital and social media," Rory added. "My wife and I met through online dating, Aziz Ansari has a new book out about it; it seems like something a lot of people are thinking about, and I've been fascinated for a long time by the questions technology poses for human relationships. I think people are really going to connect with these songs."

They expect to independently release Love in the Time of Social in March 2016 and are exploring several entrepreneurial cross-media partnerships, including custom art prints and small-batch coffee, to be bundled with preorders of the album.

While specific venues and times are still being worked out, the band plans to make appearances in the following cities: Tupelo, MS; Atlanta, GA; Shelby, NC; Anderson, SC; Richmond, VA; Stafford, VA. They will start in Rory's new hometown in Mississippi and work their way across the southeast towards Virginia, playing new songs as well as material from their last two albums Six Thousand Summers and I Still Find Hope.

Rory Tyer Band has a unique singer-songwriter-driven rock sound, with progressive & folk influences, fronted by Rory's soaring vocals and honest songwriting. Their live performance has won them many fans in the Chicago area over the past two years through appearances at classic venues such as the Metro, Double Door, Cubby Bear, and the House of Blues, and Rory has been spotted playing acoustic cover sets at various bars and restaurants around the city. The band's first new single from the album is called "Take My Hand" and will be released shortly before the tour. Newsletter subscribers will receive the single first.

Rory Tyer Band consists of Rory Tyer (singer/songwriter/acoustic guitar), Dave Verlee (lead guitar/vocals), Brian Herman (cello/vocals), Dave DeRose (keys/vocals), Danny Olmeda (bass/vocals), and Dave Bedell (drums).
